ToLTech is currently developing two procedure simulators. Each simulator is a total learning environment with computer graphics based on the photographic anatomical accuracy of the Visible Human (or higher resolution image data prepared in a similar manner) - in 3D stereo if the clinical procedure requires it. Each simulator incorporates haptic feedback displayed by SensAble Technologies Phantoms and a comprehensive virtual Mentor to guide, critique, and score the student on each procedure.

Our first simulator was released in March of 2008. It provides training to competency and complete evaluation for the proper and efficient techniques required for diagnostic arthroscopy of the knee. This simulator was co-developed with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) and the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) and includes specialized hardware for knee articulation.

The simulator is pictured showing the left hand monitor displaying the virtual Mentor. The arthroscope view of the procedure as performed by the user is shown on the right monitor. The user is currently holding the scope in his left hand and a probe in his right hand. A typical Mentor screen is shown to the right.
